
Rev. Charlrean B. Mapson
General Secretary, Youth Missionary Society, Women's Home and Overseas Missionary Society
Charlrean Batten Mapson is the daughter of Anna Rean Batten and the late Charlie Batten, Jr. She is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. She holds a B. S. Degree in Chemistry. She moved to Wilmington in 1991 after college and joined the St. Luke A.M.E. Zion Church. Church Activities Has served as Yoke Fellow, Youth Director, Choir Member, Youth Sunday School and Bible Study teacher and Young Adult Missionary Society Coordinator on the local church level; Young Adults in Christian Ministries and Vice President of the Ministers Spouses Fellowship on the District level; currently serves as President of Conference Workers and an Evangelist on the Conference level.
Has served as New Hanover County D.A.R.E Speaker, Board of Directors Member for New Hanover County Friends of the Library, Board of Directors Member for Wilmington Regional Association of REALTORS®, Board of Directors Member for the North Carolina Association of REALTORS®, Mentor for UNC-Wilmington's Women in Leadership Program and Fundraising Chairperson for Make-A-Wish® Foundation's Adopt-An-Angel campaign; currently serves as member of the Wilmington City Planning Commission, CAMA Advisory Panel and, Board of Directors Member for Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity.
Past recipient of Outstanding Woman of the Year Award ¨ The Charlrean Batten Leadership Award was established by the National Society of Black Engineers® in her name while she was in college at the Atlanta University Center.
She was married to the Rev. Donald Mapson in June of 1996. Gave birth to JADON HASSANI MAPSON on January 31, 2005.
